Trigger Point and Other Massage Therapies
In addition to the Asian body work techniques, I have also completed the Massage Therapy Certificate program at Columbus State Community College. This program included study of anatomy, physiology, pathology, Swedish massage techniques, and additional studies in Trigger Point therapy. I am licensed as a massage therapist (LMT) by the medical board of the state of Ohio (2012).
Swedish massage techniques utilize stroking, friction, kneading, percussion, vibration, and joint movements to move blood and lymph and to release tension in the soft tissues of the body. Trigger point therapy utilizes fascial and tension release to assist in the alleviation of referred pain.
My training in sports and injury massage techniques utilizing kinesio-taping can enhance your treatment. My training in lymph drainage techniques can help reduce edema, improve immune function, and clear blockages. Additional training in deep tissue massage for the muscles supporting breathing (intercostals, diaphragm, etc.) has led to my development of a breathing treatment protocol combining acupressure, qigong, and deep-tissue massage.
Combining both eastern and western approaches to care provides me with the opportunity to offer you a highly effective bodywork experience.
